Preston Travel (CI) Limited ceases trading

jersey-logoPreston Holidays has been operating to the Channel Islands since the 1960’s establishing a strong reputation among both travel trade and consumers, which has led to its current position as Jersey’s largest tour operator.

The group business portfolio included operations to Egypt with the Longwood Holiday brand and a Greek product under the banner of Amathus holidays. Poor sales in the current climate on these products will have contributed to recent poor financial performance of the group.

David de Carteret director of Jersey Tourism says,

“We are working closely with our other Channel Island tour operators ensure that affected clients have alternative packages in place to so that they can rebook their breaks to the island. Visitors who are already in the island can continue to enjoy their holiday as their booking will be taken over by the regulatory authorities CAA & ABTA”.

The closure of the business will provide a significant challenge for many suppliers of transport and accommodation services, who will need to replace those customers at a time when competition from other destinations is particularly intense.

Whilst there are alternative companies selling through the retail travel trade in the UK, there are none with the market penetration of Preston who in, addition to their own products, have many over-branded brochures wit major retailers such as Thomas Cook.
