nr-2013-10-08-lmeinkeA selection of prints by Orange County artist Laurie Meinke are on exhibit now through November 1, 2013, in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal as part of John Wayne Airport’s Community Focus Space Program. Meinke’s works can be seen on the Departure (upper) Level near the security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C and on the Arrival (lower) Level adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.

The majority of Meinke’s prints are created as linocuts, etchings, monotypes and woodblocks, and feature scenes from photographs of China and Mexico, taken during trips to various regions. Meinke’s prints resulting from these travels include portraits and images of daily life, an example of which can be seen below:

“I believe that in my work the varied disciplines of drawing, printmaking and oil painting inform and enrich each other,” said the artist. “The experimental nature of printmaking is magical!”

A native of Southern California, Meinke has resided in San Juan Capistrano since 1986. Traveling has been an integral part of her life and she has visited China, Australia, Europe and Mexico. The artist is a member of the Southern California Plein Air Painters Association and shows her work in various venues around Orange County, including the San Clemente Art Gallery and Home/Studio shows.
