The Indian Minister of State for Culture & Tourism Shri Shripad Yesso Naik has said that the development and promotion of tourism is primarily the responsibility of the respective State Government/Union Territory (UT) Administration including Eastern and Northern India which also includes the State of Odisha.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today Shri Naik said, however, the Ministry of Tourism (MOT) provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to various State Governments/Union Territory Administration including Odisha for various tourism projects prioritized every year in consultation with them subject to availability of funds, inter-se priority and adherence to the scheme guidelines.
The details of the State/UT-wise amount and number of Tourism Projects sanctioned during 9th Plan (2000-01 to 2001-02), 10th Plan, 11th Plan and 12th Plan (till 2013-14) are given in Annexure.
