GLINTstudios_Mindsalt_PSAairlines_01970-300x200-300x200PSA Airlines today announced its plans to open a full-service maintenance facility at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) later this year.

PSA’s immense fleet expansion necessitates additional locations to support the maintenance and reliability of its growing fleet. In addition to this new facility in GSP, PSA has maintenance facilities at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK), Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) and Dayton International Airport (DAY). Since 2014, PSA has doubled its size from 49 aircraft to 115 aircraft this month and will continue to grow to operate 150 Bombardier CRJ aircraft.

“The location of the GSP facility is ideal for PSA Airlines as it is quite close to our largest hub operation at CLT and will afford unparalleled opportunities to attain synergies that can help mitigate operating costs,” said Kevin Reinhalter, Vice President – Maintenance and Engineering, PSA Airlines. “GSP is a natural and cost-effective place for our aircraft to undergo overnight maintenance, given where American deploys our aircraft throughout their network. We are excited about the bright future of this maintenance facility and the positive impact it will have on the reliability of our operation for years to come.”

The 45,000-square-foot facility at GSP was an efficient choice for PSA and with an existing building already in place, it allows the airline to make only modest improvements such as administrative offices and support space. The airline will be hiring a full staff of maintenance and engineering professionals including leadership, technicians and stores personal. PSA plans to employ approximately 50 employees at the new facility. The appeal of the Greensville-Spartanburg area is instrumental in helping PSA attract a skilled and talented workforce.

PSA expects to open the facility sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.
