A QANTAS flight to Perth was forced to make an emergency landing Tuesday after its windscreen cracked. Flight QF1091 which was on its way to Perth from Newman, had 92 people on board at the time.
The Boeing 738 aircraft returned to Newman because of the crack and the passengers were put on another flight.
A Qantas spokeswoman said the crack was in the inner windscreen.
“Aircraft windscreens are multilayered and made up of separate internal and external panes of glass as well as a vinyl sheet through the middle. Only the inner windscreen was cracked,” she said.
“However, the external windscreen and the vinyl layer were unaffected.” Engineers are now investigating the cause of the crack.
