Qatar National Convention Centre’s very own kitchen artist single-handedly took home four (4) medals from the recently concluded Salon Culinaire competition in Gulfood 2014 which took place in Dubai, UAE.
Junior Sous Chef Mangala Chaminda won two (2) Bronze medals for his masterpieces – the Chocolate Showpiece and Salt Dough Master Showpiece categories.
He also won a Silver medal for the Live Fruit and Vegetable Carving competition and took
home a merit certificate for the Live Ice Carving competition. QNCC was the only participant from Qatar to brave the competition.
The Salon Culinaire is a series of practical and display-based culinary competitions; entry to which is open to professional chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers.
More than 1,300 young chefs competed to become stars of the future. From practical cooking competitions to buffet and banqueting show pieces, chefs showcased their talent through wide range of skills and techniques.
Competitors were evaluated by a panel of 25 renowned experts, mandated by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) to judge culinary events across the globe, ensuring the highest competition standards. Gulfood
is the world’s biggest annual food and hospitality show where international flavours find world-class business.
