wyndham-worldwideRCI, the global leader in vacation exchange, and part of the Wyndham Worldwide family of brands, recently hosted its first Shared Ownership Seminar in Yangshuo, China. About 50 attendees were present at the seminar held at the Guilin Yangshuo Resort.

The two-day seminar was developed for RCI affiliates’ sales professionals to give them tangible, hands-on and “how-to” approaches for today’s shared ownership marketplace.

The seminar introduced prospecting methods and strategies for making business development more customer-centric, while helping attendees to be more successful in how they engage and approach potential customers. Sales people learned how to engage these individuals and understand what is important to them, with actionable tools and a detailed execution plan that they can easily integrate into their daily activities.

Although perceptions of the shared ownership industry have evolved over the years, RCI continues to reinforce responsible sales practices. RCI affiliates’ staffs play a key role in educating consumers about the value of shared ownership and exchange. This effort is also in line with the objectives highlighted in the Memorandum of Understanding between RCI and the Yangshuo County Government: to build the reputation and healthy development of the shared ownership industry and contribute to its sustainable growth.

The seminar was conducted by Dan King, director of Business Development for South Asia, RCI Asia Pacific. King is a long-time timeshare industry veteran with over 20 years of industry experience. He has worked with clients on five continents and has developed specific cross-cultural expertise in the Asia Pacific region. The seminar was an opportunity for RCI’s existing affiliates to leverage his extensive industry knowledge and track record of success to further grow their businesses in partnership with RCI.

“The seminar gave me the hands-on tools I need to be more successful,” said Yang Jiao of Empark Hotel Group. “And I feel more confident about what I need to do moving forward. It is also nice to hear the real-life selling stories that Dan had to share with everyone, as it helped put the content into context for me.”

“We are happy with the turn out and the good response we received from our affiliates about the seminar,” said Adrian Lee, managing director, RCI Asia Pacific. “When sales people leave this sales training seminar feeling more confident and knowing exactly what to do, it is a win-win for both RCI and our affiliates as it helps to strengthen our business synergy. We will continue to work together to offer our affiliates more of such training programs to share best industry practices.”
