Record number of cruise ships to reach New Zealand

New-Zealand-e1475059871198A record number of cruise ships are scheduled to reach New Zealand during this summer season.

 
This would also include as many as nine cruise ships that would make their inaugural calls to the country. Among the cruise ships that are planning make a visit to the country of New Zealand comprise the Ovation of the Seas that measures about 1,67,000 tonne and is a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

 
The Seabourn Encore is also yet another ship that is the youngest and most luxurious cruise ship ever to take a voyage would also appear in New Zealand. This would be just one month following her official naming in Singapore.

 

Brett Jardine, commercial director, Cruise Lines International Association Australasia or CLIA said that as many as 33 cruise ships from CLIA member cruise lines would be charting New Zealand waters between 1st October 2016 and 30th April, 2016. This marks quite a significant increase on the 28 cruise ships that had visited New Zealand over the same period in 2015.

 

The cruise ships would make over 600 calls to the ports around the country.

These cruise ships also plan to complete about 12 maiden port calls at the locales that include Kaikoura, Wellington and Stewart Island. Apart from that, there would be about 60 inaugural port calls for the individual cruise ships.
