More Record-Setting Growth for BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport

bwi-airport-logoBaltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport announced today that 2,347,077 passengers flew through the airport in June 2016. Passenger traffic increased 7.6 percent for a new June record. June marked twelve-straight monthly passenger records for BWI Marshall Airport.

 

“BWI Marshall Airport is an important transportation resource, a crucial economic development engine, and an invaluable asset for the entire state of Maryland,” said Governor Hogan. “The continued growth and new records at BWI reflect our strong economy in Maryland, and our administration will continue to find ways to encourage this success.”

 

Over the past twelve months, total passenger traffic at BWI Marshall has climbed 8.4 percent to 24.7 million, a new fiscal year record. International passengers increased about 15 percent in June. Passenger traffic for a number of BWI Marshall airlines grew in June, including: Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, Air Canada, British Airways, Condor, and WOW air.

 
“With new airline service and low airfares, our passenger traffic continues to reach new heights,” said Ricky Smith, Chief Executive Officer for BWI Marshall. “We are committed to a high level of customer service to meet the needs of travelers throughout the Washington-Baltimore region.”

 

2015 was a new all-time annual record for total passenger traffic at BWI Marshall with nearly 24 million passengers. Strong growth has continued in 2016.
