sdey6yNicolas Batum, who plays in the NBA  for the Portland Trail Blazers, is the sponsor of the fourth annual Run Ball. The basketball player has already had the opportunity to discover Reunion Island from a bird’s eye view.

It is with a big smile that Nicolas set foot on the tarmac at the heliport on Reunion Island. Encouraged by the sponsor of Run Ball 2013, Tony Parker, the athlete accepted the invitation from the organizers of Run Ball, the basketball event of the year on the island.

“I made [a] Hawaii helicopter [tour, and] Reunion is much more impressive,” Nicolas said.“Awesome!” said Nicolas Batum as he exited the helicopter. He said he will not forget this overview of Reunion Island anytime soon: “I literally raised [myself up] in the cabin when we arrived over Mafate,” he said from a height of 2.03 meters.

As a sponsor of Run Ball 2014, Nicolas Batum also met with the Reunion basketball training camp Run Ball. He said, “Youth players that oversee the meeting – they are very good. There is a good potential in Reunion.”

The coach of the France team 3×3 and Director of the Federal Centre Basketball (CFBB) Richard Billant was also part of the trip. “[In] Reunion, we see landscapes that are found nowhere else … if I can compare a little, it’s like the Grand Canyon – indescribable,” enthused the French coach.

With a schedule dedicated to mentoring youth in Run Ball camps located Tampon, Nicolas Batum and Richard Billant have not had the opportunity to explore the island. An error that should be repaired by next year with a holiday to Reunion Island.
