Russian Vacations Bounced by One-fifth in 2013

russia-flag Russia’s travel industry on Wednesday said that the number of foreign tours taken by Russians increased by one-fifth last year, with trips to Greece, Thailand, and Spain motivating the growth.

 

Citing data from the State Statistics Service, the union added that almost 18.3 million holiday trips were taken in 2013, a 19 percent increase annually.

 

With 3 million tourists last year, Turkey topped the list of most popular tourist destinations for Russians.

 

Turkey is the permanent preference for Russians seeking warmer temperature and baklava.

Egypt came in second position with 1.9 million Russian tourists. Russian sightseeing to Egypt jumped to 0.14 percent in 2013, compared to a 31 percent rise in 2012.

Finland observed the largest tourist inflow compared to 2012, rising 76.5 percent, followed by Greece, the third most admired destination, with 70 percent growth.

China was placed fourth position in most popular tourist destination, followed by Thailand, Spain, Finland, Germany, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates.

With more than a million tourists from the country Greece, Thailand and Spain tours hit all-time highs, visiting each country for the first time in record-keeping history.

Number of trips overseas by Russians, counting those for job summed up 54 million in 2013, which was a 13 percent increase on the previous year.
