Queensland Rail is spreading Christmas cheer to customers with a very special visit from Santa onboard the Santa Express train and at stations throughout December.
Executive General Manager Customer Service Martin Ryan said children are invited to hop on board the Santa Express train to meet Santa and get their early Christmas wish lists in.
“We are delighted to have Santa make a special return onboard our Santa Express train travelling on all lines across the City network from December 16-20,” Mr Ryan said.
“The Santa Express will stop at all stations across the City network giving every child the opportunity to come along and join in the festivities.
“Children can take part in Christmas carols and as well as have their photo taken with Santa, so we encourage all parents to bring along their cameras to capture the special moment.
“Customers who want to get on board the Santa Express should check the Queensland Rail website for the available times and must have a valid go card or ticket as normal fares apply.”
Mr Ryan said the Christmas cheer is also spreading to stations, with Central and Roma Street stations decked out in decorations and echoing in Christmas carols.
“For the first time this year Queensland Rail will have a Starlight Children’s Foundation Australia wishing tree at Central and Roma Street stations giving customers the opportunity to support children living with an illness or injury,” Mr Ryan said.
“To make a wish, customers can simply purchase a Starlight star tree decoration from station staff for just $10 and can have this hang on the tree throughout December.
“We are also asking customers to give from their hearts and to donate gifts as we again this year host our Christmas toy appeal in support of charity partners.
“Customers wanting to donate can simply drop off their gifts to staff at Central or Roma Street stations before 16 December.
“Gifts donated must be new, not wrapped and suitable for children between the ages of 5 and 13.
“Christmas is certainly a special time for us at Queensland Rail, but we especially want to share the cheer with our customers and those most in need in the community, so we encourage as many people to get involved and thank everyone for their support.”
