Sea Cloud Cruises, the Hamburg operator of small exceptional sailing cruises, now introduces its new program for the 2015 season. Highlights for the coming year include an extensive Northern Europe program with trips to the Baltic Sea and the fjords of Southern Norway as well as a Steinway Musical journey that wends its way from Hamburg to Spain.
Northern Europe and the traditional sailing spectacles:
Rugged archipelagos off the Swedish coast, picturesque Norwegian fjords, St Petersburg’s golden cupolas – during the 2015 summer Sea Cloud II will be sailing to magical destinations in Northern Europe. Whether Stockholm or Tallinn, the windjammer will dock right in the heart of the cities she visits. Also during the ‘Sail Bremerhaven’ festival and ‘Kiel Week’ regatta she will be right in the middle of the action. Guests will be able to experience these two ‘world class’ sailing events live from their front-row seats on board. (Travel dates: Kiel – St. Petersburg, 26.06.-06.07.15 and Oslo – Hamburg, 05.-13.08.15).
Short Trips:
For guests who wish to find out whether a sailing trip is suitable for them, or who are still undecided whether to choose Sea Cloud or her younger sister Sea Cloud II, there are numerous short trips available giving just the right opportunity. The taster cruises are also perfect for those who only have a few days of vacation and would like to take a quick break: for example, with Sea Cloud: Nice – Nice, 30.04.-04.05.15 or Venice – Venice, 04.-08.08.15, and with Sea Cloud II: Valencia – Nice, 01-05.05.15 or Portsmouth – Hamburg, 14.-18.06.15.
Sailing, Sailing, Sailing:
Cruises with reinforced or an exclusive focus on sailing have become increasingly popular. This special pursuit corresponds to several cruises in 2015. During a sailing trip in the Adriatic (Sea Cloud: Venice – Malta, 12-20.10.15), only the beginning and the end of the trip are fixed. An unforgettable experience must surely be the two sisters Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II sailing in tandem off the Canary Islands (Sea Cloud: Las Palmas – Las Palmas, 22.-28.11.15 or Sea Cloud II: Las Palmas – Las Palmas, 23.-27.11.15). Guests coast along in silence on their windjammer as she sails side by side with her sister windjammer, truly a fantastic spectacle!
Anyone who is thinking of joining a transatlantic trip, but feels a bit queasy at the thought, can get a feel of what it’s like during a “mini-transatlantic” (Sea Cloud II: Malaga – Las Palmas, 02.-11.11.15) or already join either (Sea Cloud: Las Palmas – Barbados, 28.11.-14.12.15 or Sea Cloud II: Las Palmas – Curaçao, 27.11.-14.12.15) for the real thing.
Music Travel:
Themed cruises with a particular focus in 2015 are the Steinway Music Festival from Hamburg to Bilbao, 16.-26.08.15). Two of the ‘Steinway Piano Competition’ winners will be travelling on board Sea Cloud II to demonstrate their skills. Top class musical enjoyment is not only to be found at sea however, there are also piano concerts on land featuring other musicians in stylish settings in Hamburg and in the Pauillac region in France.
Winter destinations for 2015 and 2015/16:
During the winter months, Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud II wile away the time visiting the Lesser Antilles, The Grenadines, The British Virgin Islands, Cuba, Central America, Costa Rica and Panama.
Then, at the end of January 2015, Sea Cloud will unfurl her sails and sets course for Cuba where she will remain for two longer trips (Havana – Havana, 27.01.-06.02.15 Havana – Santo Domingo / Dom Republic, 06.-16.02.15.). In March there are sailings from Barbados to Barbados (Sea Cloud: 26.03.-06.04.2015 and Sea Cloud II: 24.03.-02.04.2015).
