See What Happened When British Airways Challenged Golfing Star Justin Rose to tee off on a British Airways Boeing 747

British-Airways-LogoStraight from his success at the Ryder Cup, European hero Justin Rose flew from Scotland to British Airways’ engineering hangar in London to take on a unique charity challenge to raise funds and awareness for the Kate and Justin Rose Foundation, which was set up by the golfing star and his wife to inspire children through nutrition, education, and experiences.

Standing  on the wing of a British Airways 747, which has a wingspan of 64m and average  height of 6.1m above the ground, Rose was joined by former England football captain and BBC Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker, Ex-Liverpool  midfielder Jamie Redknapp, former England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright and fashion icon, Jodie Kidd. Their mission was to hit a succession of golf balls at a target up to 180 yards away to secure flights for the charity.

High winds proved challenging for the golfers with Justin Rose skimming the target and Jamie Redknapp succeeding but only after his golf ball bounced and deflected off the green.   “That was a lot more challenging than I expected,” said Rose.  “I don’t think I’ve been faced with a shot quite as unique as hitting one off a wing of a British Airways 747! Ian Wright had the best shot of the day, but you’ll have to watch the highlights to appreciate it!”

Frank van der Post, British Airways managing director of brands and customer experience added: “It was a fantastic day and thanks to Justin and his sporting friends’ efforts we have donated ten flights to the Justin and Kate Rose Foundation.”

Justin Rose will head to Dubai in November to compete in the European Tour’s finale of the Race to Dubai, the DP World Tour Championship, held at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in the United Arab Emirates. While in Dubai, he will be hosting an exclusive golf clinic open to a limited number of competition winners who will be flown to Dubai by British Airways to meet Justin and receive personal coaching from the star.
