Seychelles-Tourism-BoardBusinessmen in Seychelles and La Reunion have now Seychelles Tourism Boardsigned commercial contracts and are ready for the 23rd June when Air Austral will start their direct non-stop flights to Seychelles. Following the formal announcement of the Air Austral direct flights to Seychelles starting on 23rd June 2014, commercial links between both Islands now stand on solid ground. Didier Robert, the President of Regional Council of La Reunion said that the development of economic ties remains pivotal for commercial exchanges between La Reunion and Seychelles.

“Today La Reunion products are non existent on the Seychelles Market. Seychelles on its part produces excellent fish but it does not make it to the La Reunion market which sits just next door. La Reunion produces probably the best in the semi commercial range of homemade marmalades and jams in the region. These products are excellent commodities for regional export’’ Didier Robert said.

Didier Robert explained that negotiations are now underway between Seychelles and La Reunion for competitive commercial prices for air cargo.

“A well founded regional economic strategy is the core of my conviction. The basis of a successful economic partnership lies on solid commercial exchanges within Islands’’ claimed Didier Robert, President of Regional Council of La Reunion. On his part Minister Alain St.Ange, the President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands, explained that Seychelles had a lot to gain in this economic venture.

“As a country we go as far as importing chicken from Brazil and pineapples from everywhere and anywhere, when these goods and commodities are accessible and affordable in our own region. Our country needs to continue investing in adding value to our local products that we can easily be sold in the region’’ Minister Alain St.Ange said.

Seychelles and La Reunion will from the 23rd of June have direct air access when Air Austral will start its twice weekly service. The duration of the direct air service will be but two and a half hours and this will increase the potential for twin center holiday offers to the discerning travellers.
