unnamed-11-300x200LONELY PLANET India named Seychelles as the BEST INTERNATIONAL DESTINATION FOR RELAXATION at its glittering Readers’ Travel Awards ceremony held at Palladium Hotel, Mumbai.

Other nominees in the category were Bali, Fiji, Kerala, Thailand and Sri Lanka.

For the third year running, Lonely Planet Magazine India invited the country’s discerning travellers to choose their favourite destinations and hotels.

Nominations for some of the awards were shortlisted by a panel of travel experts and professionals, and LPMI readers voted both online and in the magazine.

Speaking on this occasion Ms. Lubaina Sheerazi, Head Bluesquare Consultants, Seychelles Tourist Office, India said, “We at the Seychelles Tourism Board believe that the most important endorsers of a destination are the ones who believe in it and praise it from their hearts.

So we are honored to receive this award given to us by the readers of one of the most respected travel brands in the world.

We are happy to have earned the love and admiration of the readers.”

The Indian traveller is receiving unprecedented amount of attention from across the world, for good reason: India has emerged as the world’s fastest-growing outbound market and in absolute numbers it is second only to China.

The number of Indians travelling overseas is slated to rise from around 15 million today to 50 million by 2020.

Also as this Indian traveler looks out for newer destinations to travel to, Seychelles offers itself as an exotic choice with its unparallel beauty, striking endemic flora and fauna, rich culture, world class facilities and warm hospitality.

The Readers’ Travel Award winners were featured in the June 2014 issue of Lonely Planet India.

Featuring it as the winner in the Best Destination for Relaxation category the magazine described Seychelles with these beautiful lines – Remember that thing they say about good things and small packages? Well, this tiny cluster of islands hidden away in the Indian Ocean is proof of that old adage.

Endless stretches of sand and clear blue waters make this getaway a little slice of heaven on earth.

The people of these picturesque islands take rest and relaxation very seriously, and we wouldn’t want to insult local culture now, would we.
