A surfer in the east coast of Australia was killed by Shark attack when both his legs were torn while he was onboard. He was waiting for a wave when a shark appeared behind him and attacked his board and bit down a part of his leg.

He was pulled to the shore at Shelly Beach by friends who were surfing alongside him. Despite performing CPR and attempting to stop the bleeding with tourniquets the man could not be saved. The incident occurred at 10.30 Monday morning. The other surfers noted that the shark was 3.5 meters long and great white.

The beach has been closed and the officials are searching for the shark. There have been more cases reported of shark attack.  About 12 miles south of Ballina at Seven Mile Beach, near Byron Bay, a surfer was bitten by a seven to 10 ft shark while he was in the water. He suffered cuts in his back and puncture wounds in the buttocks.
