Fifa-World-Cup-2014-Brazil-269x300Brazil, which turned into the city of soccer are forcing its tourists to dig deep into their wallets charging three times the normal tariffs and raking in the maximum moolah during the World Cup.

The football fans are being charged about $700-800 at the moment for the deluxe rooms in a five star hotel which generally costs around $200-250 per night. And all credits goes to the world football governing body who have reportedly instructed the hoteliers to charge three times the normal tariffs.

One may blame the taxes but retailers greed is yet another factor which adds to this unusual price-hike.

One of the travel agencies from India, headed by its director Sanjeev Mehra said that FIFA has taken over all the hotels not just in Rio but all over the country, especially the host cities and has instructed the hotels to spike its tariffs as that way they will end up making a lot of profits. They are also demanding instant payments.

With $800 just as the hotel price, imagine how deep loss it would create to the travelers to Rio de Janeiro when the food, game tickets, travel and other expenses will be added up.

As some of the tourists said that they have been in Brazil before but the price rise is the highest at this time during the world cup.

While the souvenir shops around popular tourist attractions such as Christ The Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain are raking in the moolah, the flea market in the heart of Copacabana beach has emerged as an affordable option for tourists. They are open till as late as 1 am in the morning and are crowded by tourists from all over the world.
