Published on : Tuesday, August 9, 2016

SkyWest-Airlines-300x113SkyWest, Inc., (“SkyWest”) today reported 169,513 block hours in July 2016, compared to 183,039 block hours in July 2015, a decrease of 13,526 or 7.4%. The net decrease was consistent with SkyWest’s fleet transition plan to improve the mix of aircraft in its fleet by adding new E175 aircraft, while reducing its 50-seat jets.

The year-over-year net change was primarily driven by approximately 6,700 additional block hours from its E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 20,200 block hours from its other aircraft types.

In July 2016, SkyWest’s dual class aircraft represented approximately 43% of SkyWest’s total block hour production for the month compared to approximately 38% for the month of July 2015.

SkyWest reported 1,149,722 block hours for year-to-date July 2016, compared to 1,231,186 block hours year-to-date July 2015, a decrease of 81,464, or 6.6%. This net change was primarily driven by approximately 53,000 additional block hours from its E175 aircraft and a decrease of approximately 134,500 block hours from its other aircraft types.

SkyWest had 101,935 departures in July 2016 compared to 109,016 in July 2015, a decrease of 7,081, or 6.5%. SkyWest generated 2.99 billion available seat miles (ASMs) for July 2016, compared to 3.21 billion ASMs for July 2015, or a 6.9% decrease. Additional flight statistics for July, including passengers enplaned, revenue passenger miles, and passenger load factors, are included in the accompanying table.
