The Royal Sonesta Hotel proudly announces a special holiday initiative designed to support Children’s Hospital. This is the sixth consecutive year that this landmark New Orleans hotel is reaching out to the children and their families currently undergoing care at the hospital. The multi-layered outreach program centers around four main areas of support that extends throughout the holiday season.
The first component of the hotel’s extended initiative was revealed recently during the Royal Sonesta’s annual Lighting of the Balconies holiday event. Royal Sonesta President and General Manager, Alfred Groos, presented the official 2013 Royal Teddy Bear ornament to the public. This limited edition signed and numbered keepsake created by artist Colleen Toye is available for sale for just $20 each. One hundred percent of the proceeds generated from ornament sales are dedicated to Children’s Hospital. The ornaments make perfect gifts and may be purchased at all Royal Teddy Bear Tea seatings or by calling the Holiday Hotline at 504-553-2328.
On Wednesday December 18 at 9:30 a.m., the Royal Sonesta transports a Royal Teddy Bear Tea experience to the little patients who are hospitalized for the holidays. Through the generosity of Tammy Kern of Paper Doll Promotions, this heartwarming Teddy Bear ‘Road Trip’ features a full cast of holiday characters that include Santa, Mrs. Claus, Rudolph and several of his friends. The party begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. at the Children’s Hospital Auditorium located at 200 Henry Clay Avenue. Just like the hotel experience, the kids are treated to story time with Mrs. Claus, sing-alongs with Rudolph and friends, and special treats courtesy of the hotel. The magical event provides a brief window for the kids to just have fun. Every child gets a Royal Teddy Bear of their very own just for cuddling.
On Friday December 20 at 11 a.m., the Royal Sonesta Hotel hosts over 40 patients from Children’s Hospital and their families for a Royal Teddy Bear Tea experience at the hotel. This layer of the initiative provides an opportunity for the hotel’s staff to interact directly with these very special children. Among the perks, the group enjoys reserved seating for the event. Their experience includes a special children’s menu as well as a complete high tea experience for the adults. Members of the New Orleans Saintsations mix and mingle with the children and Mrs. Claus provides coveted story time. Yes, Santa and friends will also be there to join in the fun. And, to top it all off, the Royal Sonesta Hotel has officially proclaimed Friday December 20th as Children’s Hospital Day.
The final component of the Royal Sonesta’s charitable initiative provides an easy way to incorporate the sprit of philanthropy into our holiday celebrations. The hotel has set up a Toy Drop receptacle just outside of the Grand Ballroom and invites everyone to experience the joy of giving by donating an unwrapped toy for a little girl or boy. Just before Christmas Eve, all toys collected will be delivered by Santa’s Elves to Children’s Hospital for distribution to their little patients.
The Royal Sonesta’s collaboration with Children’s Hospital is a shining example of Sonesta’s “Culture of Caring” and their commitment to giving back to the community that we share.
