Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island has named Ryan Thompson as its newest sales manager. In his new position, Thompson will be responsible for maintaining the resort relationship with potential and existing group clients, and for prospecting and booking business at the hotel, as well as promoting the destination. Thompson’s area of focus will include the Northeast and Georgia corporate business groups, as well as all golf groups.
Previously, Thompson served as the tournament sales director at The Heritage Collection on Hilton Head Island. He also spent several years with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide where he held positions including sales manager, front office manager, sales reporting systems analyst and management trainee.
Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island, which reopened in May after a $30 million renovation, represents the only all-new resort to open on Hilton Head Island this year. Set on 11 acres of land, the resort features a swimming pool complex, the Arum Spa, casual and fine dining opportunities, and on-site bicycle rentals, as well as indoor and outdoor function space, including two ballrooms, and an oceanfront pavilion. The 340 guest rooms offer views of the lush landscape, pools and the Atlantic Ocean.

Thompson received his bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut. He currently calls Bluffton home with his wife and nine-month-year-old daughter.
