Phildile Ngcobo, the Chief Operating Officer of Tourism KwaZulu-Natal and Phillip Sithole, CEO of Durban Tourism made time at FITUR 2014 in Madrid Spain to meet with Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to discuss the coming 2014 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria that they are jointly co-hosting this coming April in the Seychelles together with the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands of La Reunion, Madagascar and Mayotte.
The Carnaval International de Victoria which has become known has become known as the unique carnival of carnivals brings together the world’s best and most popular carnivals and cultural troupes from the Community of Nations to parade together in what is described as an explosion of colour and culture. Many countries who are developing their tours industry and who are seeking increased visibility for themselves now use the carnival in the Seychelles as an event in which to be present to fly their flag and showcase themselves before a large bank of International press coming from the world over. “No country can be, or should be ashamed to display their culture and in so doing bring to the forefront their people as their base for the marketing of their country. The carnival of carnivals that is staged annually in Seychelles during the last weekend of April is the only such a tourism event where everyone can participate with the aim of telling the world that they are also a tourism destination: a journalist said at the last edition of the carnival in Seychelles.
South Africa’s Province of KwaZulu Natal remains very much a key tourism destination and their Minister Michael Mabuyakhulu, the KwaZulu Natal Minister responsible for Tourism has now confirmed by a letter to Minister Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles that he committing South Africa KwaZulu Natal to be a co-host of the 2014 Carnaval International de Victoria. Minister Michael Mabuyakhulu, the KwaZulu Natal Minister responsible for Tourism is using this cultural event to position his province in the world of tourism though their diverse multi ethnic population and using their rich culture. In the discussions in Madrid Phildile Ngcobo, the Chief Operating Officer of Tourism KwaZulu-Natal agreed that representatives of Tourism KwaZulu-Natal would be in Seychelles shortly to discuss the presence of South Africa in this coming edition of the Carnival to ensure maximum visibility through a great performance.
