Planners at both Southwest and AirTran have made adjustments to the operation of each airline as a winter storm continues to intensify across the upper mid-Atlantic region and New England. Airport conditions have resulted in flight cancelations today in Albany, Boston (Logan), Buffalo/Niagara, Hartford, Long Island, Manchester, Newark, New York (LaGuardia), Philadelphia, Portland, Maine, as well as Providence, and Rochester, New York.
Including Thursday, today, and tomorrow, Southwest Airlines has canceled a total of nearly 280 flights systemwide as of this hour. For context, Southwest had 3,246 flights scheduled today and 2,482 for Saturday.
For today and tomorrow, AirTran Airways has canceled a total of nearly 50 flights systemwide as of this hour. For context, AirTran had 573 flights scheduled today and 552 for Saturday.
