Sri Lanka Tourism celebrates its golden jubilee

sri-lanka-tourismInvoking the blessings of Lord Buddha in the golden jubilee celebration, Sri Lanka Tourism organized a whole night Pirith Ceremony in head office premises, Colombo 03 from 04th May evening to the dawn of 05th. Ven. Mitiyakuliye Gunadhara Thero, the head priest of Sri Dharma Kierthirama, Kollupitiya conducted the Pirith ceremony along with other reputed monks in Colombo. There was an alms giving conducted on 04th May concluding the Pirith Ceremony for 20 monks with a meaningful sermon.

 

 

 

Hon. Minister Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs, John Amarathunga, Mr. Janaka Sugathadasa, Secretary, Mrs. Shirani Weerakoon, Chairman, Mr. P M Withana and Director General Mr. Malraj Kiriella Additional Secretary for Ministry of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs participated at the event.

 

 
Former officers of Sri Lanka Tourism also took part to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Tourism where they worked for. Wishing good health and success for the past officials who contributed towards the growth of Sri Lanka Tourism was one of the objectives of ceremony, said Mr. Mihira Liyanarachchi, Director Domestic Tourism Division welcoming the guests and the monks. The colorfully decorated Pirith Stage was glimmered by blue crystal lights and charmed with garlands of Jasmin depicting the Sri Lankan Culture, Buddhist philosophy and natural tranquility of Sri Lanka.
