tampa-international-airport-logoTampa International Airport ended the 2013 fiscal year on Sept. 30 with revenues totaling $184.3 million, a $6.7 million increase compared to the previous fiscal year. That’s a 3.8 percent increase compared to fiscal year 2012.

Meanwhile, the airport served 16.9 million passengers, a .9 percent increase over the
previous fiscal year. The growth was driven by international passengers. That sector
grew by 6.8 percent in fiscal year 2013 compared to the previous year. International
traffic has grown 28 percent over the past two fiscal years.

“I’m proud to see the growth in international passenger traffic, and I expect that trend to
continue with the launch of our four-times-weekly Copa flights to Panama in December,”
said Tampa Airport CEO Joe Lopano. “I’m also proud to see our revenue increases far
exceeding our passenger growth. That’s part of a strategic effort to diversify our
revenues by offering food and beverage options and special services that our
passengers want.”

Concessions opened in mid-2012, such as the Swarovski jewelry store, and the Tampa
Bay-themed Green Iguana and Columbia Café restaurants, are among the most popular
outlets at the airport, contributing to a $1.3 million or 8.4 percent increase in food,
beverage and retail revenues compared to 2012. The airport’s valet parking option,
which since September 2011 has offered parkers auto detailing while they travel, is the
airport’s fastest growing parking product. Valet parking generated $1.3 million for the
airport in 2013, an 11 percent increase over fiscal year 2012.
