Three Chinese touristsChinese tourists are once more in news and this time again for a wrong reason. Three Chinese tourists in Japan airport were responsible for shutting down the security gates causing a dozen flights to be delayed by half an hour as they has wandered off to secure areas without going through proper checks.

The three Chinese women were headed for Tokyo at Naha Airport in Okinawa and were waiting for their connecting flight. They strolled off to a duty fee shop and somehow reached in the baggage reclaim area at the departure gate.

This security breach caused the airport authority to retake security check of 6,300 people. This check was mandatory for the airport’s own security. 5 flights were grounded and 25 flights were delayed in the process.

Chinese tourists are perpetually grabbing news headlines and mostly for odd reasons. There have been a number of incidents in the past like the passenger who opened the emergency door on an aircraft at an airport in Nanjing last month to get a breath of fresh air. The flight had to be delayed for an hour. In another incident a Chinese passenger threw hot water on a cabin attendant as she did not like her service. Incidents of misbehaviour in tourist destinations are innumerable.

This incident in Japan has invoked heated discussion on the social media from China where people have said that women are an embarrassment to the Chinese nation and should not be allowed to travel abroad.

The State Tourism Administration has decided to compile a database of bad behaviour and circulate it among travel companies.

In a place like Japan where most people are very well behaved and disciplined, such behaviour from Chinese visitors is starkly unbecoming. Recently Japan has been receiving many Chinese visitors due to relaxed visa requirements, strong exchange rates and Chinese shoppers love for high-quality Japanese products. But even though they are the much sought after tourist around the world, some tourists with bad behavoiur are making it difficult for the majority of Chinese tourists that tour the world.
