Tourism-Ireland-imagesTourism Ireland has welcomed today’s announcement by Spanish airline Vueling that it will launch a new flight from Barcelona to Belfast in May 2015.

This new service, which will operate to Belfast City Airport, will help boost leisure travel from Spain to Belfast and Northern Ireland.

Working with relevant partners to attract new and additional direct air access services, and continuing to highlight ease of access to Northern Ireland from key markets on existing routes, are major priorities for Tourism Ireland.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “Today’s announcement is good news for tourism. We look forward to co-operating with Vueling to maximise the promotion of this new service from Barcelona to Belfast.

As an island, the importance of convenient, direct, non-stop flights cannot be overstated – they are absolutely critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism.
“Tourism Ireland is committed to working with Vueling, Belfast City Airport and other tourism partners, through co-operative marketing, to drive demand for this new service, as well working with other carriers and partners to promote and help maintain vital routes and services to Northern Ireland.”
