Tourism New Zealand’s efforts to build an integrated public relations led campaign in order to create awareness for the destination and to develop a strong connect with consumers have been acknowledged by PR Week Asia Awards 2016.
Tourism New Zealand and Genesis B-M has been awarded the top honours in two distinctive categories – the ‘Brand Development Campaign of the Year – Gold’ and ‘South Asia PR Campaign of the Year – Bronze’ category for its influencer campaign for “Everyday a different journey”.
As part of Tourism New Zealand’s ongoing campaign, the government body engaged with Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra for the first time in India as the tourism ambassador to New Zealand. This endeavour was designed to attract the Independent Professional segment in India looking to experience a unique holiday in New Zealand. The actor visited the destination in October 2015 and experienced the different offerings that New Zealand had to offer including the unique culture, luxury experiences, world-class cuisine while also participating in activities such as the skywalk, skydive, sand surfing, diving and hot air ballooning. His experience in New Zealand was utilised successfully for targeted public relations, digital marketing and in-market events.
Speaking about the awards, Steven Dixon, Regional Manager, South and South East Asia, Tourism New Zealand, says, “It is rewarding to see that our campaign has been recognised on a revered platform such as PR Week Asia Awards. The communications approach has received great success and Sidharth Malhotra proved to be an ideal brand ambassador for Tourism New Zealand in India. We are really excited to win these two awards that further acknowledge the work we have done within this market.”
The PR Week Asia Awards 2016 celebrate the most inspired and successful campaigns, companies and individuals in Asia-Pacific’s communications industry.
