Tourism Toronto offers exciting events in the coming months

It has a humid continental climate with extremely cold winters & warm humid summers. It has a diverse array of public spaces from city squares to public parks. Within a short drive from Toronto is the world famous Niagara Falls. Toronto has a lot of Tourist attractions that are a must visit for every tourist. Some of them are the bright and airy shopping mall “The Eaton Centre”, for a bird’s eye view of the city “The CN Tower”,

 

“The Royal Ontario Museum” which has a fine collection of artifacts, for recreation & relaxation a visit to “Centre Island” a 10 minute ferry ride away from down town Toronto, and how can we not mention the bustling “China Town” where tourists will find good bargains on exotic trinkets, jewelry, clothing, household items as well as delicious Chinese, Vietnamese & Asian food. Experience Toronto’s nightlife in some popular neighbourhoods like Little Italy/College Street, the Entertainment Districts & Church Street parties that go on till the wee hours of the morning. There are also many festivals ranging from performing arts, Cinema Culture, Cuisines, Art & Architecture & revelry that is sure to guarantee you an experience of a life time. Tourism Toronto has planned a whole lot of events in Toronto in the coming months. So hop on to the next flight to Toronto as there is always something to scintillate and excite the senses!!

 

JUNE 2014

Luminato Festival – 6th to 15th June 2014, Davis Pecaut Square, Toronto

This Festival is the international multi-arts festival for people open to having art change their outlook on the world. For ten days each June, the Luminato Festival transforms theatres, parks and public spaces across the city and creates a home for artists to come play, share and create. When the unexpected meets the transformative, that’s a Luminato moment.

 

NXNE: North by Northeast Music & Film Festival – 13th to 22nd June 2014, Toronto

North by Northeast is all about rocking the city with 10 days of great music and the coolest music-related films from around the world. You’ll hear original music you’ve never heard before and get a first look at hand-selected music movies.
 

Mississauga Waterfront Festival – 13th to 15th June 2014
Port Credit Memorial Park, Mississauga, Toronto

Known for presenting the best in Canadian and International talent concerts. The Family Fun Village offers everything from stilt walkers and fire-eaters to exciting water shows, family carnival, interactive sports activities, delicious food and unique crafters and vendors. Enjoy a colourful carnival, outdoor concerts, theatre and a petting zoo. Be sure not to miss this event for kids of all ages.

 

TD Toronto Jazz Festival – 19th to 28th June 2014, – Toronto

TD Toronto Jazz Festival delivers the sounds of the world’s greatest jazz musicians from the quaint and most intimate of venues to the large concert halls. Attractions include more than 350 performances with over 1,500 musicians performing at approximately 40 locations around Toronto. Be sure to schedule this smooth festival into your summer calendar.
 

Pride Toronto Festival + WorldPride 2014 – 20th to 29th June 2014, Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto

WorldPride 2014 Toronto, presented by Pride Toronto, is shaping up to be one of the biggest international events of our times. These 10 days of queer celebration will turn streets into parades, parks into parties & strangers into friends. JULY 2014
Toronto Fringe Festival – 2nd to 13th July 2014, Various Venues, Toronto,

The Fringe Festival features more than 155 indie shows in more than 25 venues, in every genre – with local, national, and international artists. There are new plays and old favourites, experimental works and fresh hits. Dance lovers can check out dance productions, and families can look forward to FringeKids! shows for even the littlest Fringer. The outdoor Fringe Club features buskers, bands, visual artists, Tent Talks, and plays in tents and sheds – all free!

 
Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition – 4th to 6th July 2014, Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto

As the largest of its kind in Canada, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition offers a fresh-air and free alternative to conventional art shows and galleries. Approximately 500 artists participate and over 100,000 visitors attend the exhibition every year. Side by side, established artists, undiscovered talents and innovative students sell their work directly to the public and make lasting connections with art dealers and collectors.

Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival – 8th July to 3rd Aug 2014, Nathan Phillips Square ,Toronto

Over nearly fifty years, it has become a major international event and the largest cultural festival of its kind in North America. AUGUST 2014
Pilaros Taste of the Danforth – 8th to 10th Aug 2014, Danforth Avenue, Toronto

Get to Pilaros Taste of the Danforth and celebrate the fun flavours of Greece and summer in the city! Every year in August, the city of Toronto flocks to GreekTown on the Danforth. Everyone who comes to the Danforth gets to be Greek for the day. There are a number of exhibitors offering contests, prizes and free samples and, of course, dozens and dozens of tasty food stations from Danforth’s amazing array of multi-ethnic restaurants.

 
Canadian National Exhibition – 15th Aug to 1st Sept 2014, Exhibition Place, Toronto

The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) is fun for the entire family. Midway rides bring chills and thrills. Horse shows and dog shows entertain both young and old. The Ex culminates with the thrilling and crowd pleasing Air Show that fills the sky with a range of exciting aircraft and planes, including the iconic Snowbirds. A terrific way to cap the summer!

 

Scotiabank Buskerfest – 21st to 24th Aug 2014, Downtown Yonge Street Neighbourhood, Toronto

Non-stop, action-packed, fun-filled entertainment. Comedians, contortionists, musicians, magicians, fire jugglers, acrobats, aerial artists, clowns and daredevils all come together for North America’s largest street performer festival, the largest epilepsy awareness event in the world on the world’s longest, most vibrant Street! Admission is by donation in support of Epilepsy Toronto. Prepare to be amazed!

 

SEPTEMBER 2014

Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) – 4th to 14th Sept 2014, Toronto

The Toronto International Film Festival is the most successful public film festival in the world. World premieres, galas, associated shmoozes and parties comprise this illustrious event where stars, directors and industry honchos make the rounds. If you are a cinephile or simply just love to experience new and innovative films, the Festival is the place to be.
 
Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival – Sept 2014, King Street West in downtown  Toronto

Canada’s Walk of Fame Festival is three days of music featuring some of Canada’s most popular and iconic performers. The Festival is held at a variety of venues in downtown Toronto, most of them free. Audiences will enjoy a broad range of events, from Canada’s most celebrated performers to exciting emerging artists breaking out onto the world stage.
