Travel Tech Submits Formal Comment on Resolution 787

travel-techThe Travel Technology Association, or Travel Tech, the trade association for leaders in the travel technology industry released the following statement after submitting formal comments to the Department of Transportation (DOT) on last month’s Resolution 787 ruling.

“The recent decision by DOT goes a long way in putting the consumer in the driver’s seat when it comes to transparency, choice, and privacy,” said Travel Tech Spokesman Philip Minardi. “Anytime you can give travelers more insight and control as they search, compare, and book travel options, it’s a step in the right direction.”
On May 21st, the Department of Transportation issued its long awaited Show Cause Order on Resolution 787, including all of the conditions submitted jointly by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and stakeholders from across the travel services industry.

“The Travel Technology Association (“Travel Tech”) hereby answers in support of the Department’s May 21, 2014 Order to Show Cause in this proceeding. Travel Tech supports the Department’s decision to tentatively approve Resolution 787 with the conditions set forth therein. The Show-Cause Order included all of the conditions submitted by IATA and Open Allies for Airfare Transparency in their jointly-filed “Agreed Limitations Concerning Resolution 787”.

 

 

Travel Tech and its members are committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the principles of privacy, competition, choice, voluntary participation, and open standards are upheld and maintained in the future of travel distribution.
