Boston is one of the oldest and most historic cities in the United States with its first European settlers, the famous Pilgrims, arriving in the early 17th century.
The city is a center for education, medical-research, finance and technology and is the site of world-renowned educational institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.

With over 100 colleges and universities enrolling more than 250,000 students, the city has become known as the ‘Athens of America’. This rich educational tradition, combined with its historical import, has created one of America’s richest cultural regions. It’s Symphony Hall, home to the Boston Symphony, is regarded as one of the most acoustically perfect buildings ever built.

Numerous museums and parks create a city that is both livable and easily seen on foot—especially the famous Freedom Trail that allows visitors a comprehensive tour of Revolutionary War sites. There are also numerous festivals and celebrations throughout the year including world famous events such as the Boston Marathon and the summer concert series in Tanglewood. Its compact central city, history and walkability have given it a reputation as one of America’s most “European” cities.
