Sami week is a celebration of Sami culture. This is an annual event in Umeå where visitors of all ages can experience diverse activities from reindeer racing to traditional Sami singing, jojk.
A well-filled program with lots of activities each day, the event will kick off from February 26 till March 9.
There are, for example, performances, lectures, demonstrations, reindeer races, food, song, art exhibitions, and a lot of handicraft from all over the samiland, (sápmi in their own language).
Sápmi involves the northern part of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia. There are also numerous activities for families and children during the day. Many films are shown during the week at the museums.
