Union-PacificThe National Business Group on Health (NBGH) named Union Pacific one of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles for 2014.

Recognized at the platinum level for its ongoing commitment and dedication to promoting a healthy work environment, Union Pacific was among 63 U.S. employers that received the 2014 Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award.

This marks the tenth year Union Pacific has received the award.

“Union Pacific is committed to offering a number of health promotion programs that support employee well-being,” said Roy Schroer, Union Pacific vice president – Human Resources.

“Wellness is an important factor in employee safety, and we are honored to be recognized for our efforts.”

The railroad’s wellness programs assess and provide intervention support for health risk factors, including asthma, blood pressure, cholesterol, depression, diabetes, fatigue, inactivity, nutrition, smoking, stress and weight.

Since launching its program more than 26 years ago, Union Pacific continues to develop wellness resources, such as the recently piloted Worksite Wellness Challenge, which recognizes work units for engaging employees, as well as encouraging them to pursue their wellness goals.
