VIA Rail offered alternate transportation between Churchill, Gillam and Thompson on August 10th

VIA Rail’s train #692 scheduled to depart Churchill on Saturday August 9th was cancelled due to operational issues.

 

Passengers travelling from Churchill to Gillam and Thompson, as well as from Gillam to Thompson were offered alternate transportation on Sunday, August 10th.

 

Train service between Thompson and Winnipeg was offered according to the normal schedule.

 

VIA Rail is communicated with the passengers and tourists who had reservations on the affected train.

The next train travelling in this area is scheduled to leave Thompson towards Churchill on Monday, August 11th at 5 p.m.

 

The next departure from Churchill towards south is scheduled on Tuesday, August 12th at 7:30 p.m.

As Canada’s national rail passenger service, VIA Rail Canada’s (viarail.ca) and its 2,500 employees are mandated to provide safe, efficient and economical passenger transportation service, in both official languages of our country.

 

VIA operates intercity, regional and transcontinental trains linking 450 communities across its 12,500-kilometre route network, and safely transports nearly four million passengers annually.

They regretted the inconvenience that this situation might have caused.
