Victorian Footy Fans Encouraged To Visit Tassie This Winter

tourism-tasmania-logoTasmania’s program of winter events was the theme at the Tasmanian Game of the Year today.
 

 
The Liberal Government’s number one priority is jobs, which is why have set a goal of attracting 1.5 million visitors to Tasmania per year by 2020, which will create up to 8,000 new jobs.
 

 
As part of Tasmania’s sponsorship deal with the Hawthorn Football Club, every year a Melbourne-based home game is allocated to the State and promoted as the Tasmanian Game of the Year.

 

 

The event offers the opportunity to promote Tasmania to thousands of spectators, a national viewing audience – and tens of thousands of potential visitors.
 
As part of the promotion to attract visitors to the state during the cooler months of June to August, a number of free flights to Tasmania this winter were given away during an on-ground event.

The message was clear to footy fans: visit Tasmania this winter.

Winter in Tasmania coincides with a range great events and festivals, such as the Festival of Voices, Chocolate Winterfest, Dark MOFO, and AFL matches in Launceston and Hobart

These events and festivals add to the cultural fabric of our island, and most importantly create additional reasons for people to visit Tasmania, supporting and creating new jobs.
