Virgin-Trains1-300x300Virgin Trains today announced a unique partnership with Twentieth Century Fox to be the official UK travel partner of the upcoming blockbuster X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

This exciting collaboration will see Virgin Trains bring the movie franchise to life by wrapping all 11 carriages of a flagship 11-car Pendolino train which will be travelling the length of the country for 3 months in the run up to the film’s release on May 22nd.

For us it’s all about our relationship with speed”, said Phil Whittingham, Lead Executive at Virgin Trains.

“The latest instalment in the X-MEN franchise ties in perfectly with Virgin Trains relationship with travel.

Time travel is a key theme throughout the new movie and at Virgin Trains we strive to make sure our customer’s journeys are as quick as possible, as if our trains are time travel devices.”

Adrian Varma, Partnerships and Regions Manager at Virgin Trains said: “We’re always looking for different ways to bring the Virgin Train experience to life for our customers and we’re excited to welcome stars from the film to officially name our Virgin Train ‘X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST’.

Partnerships are all about creating an immersive experience and we hope the newly refurbished X-MEN train will do this for our customers and help to create excitement around the film.”

X MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is set to be released in cinemas nationwide from the 22nd May and sees the return of Director Bryan Singer bridging the gap between the old and new franchises.

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods.

The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.

To help bring the characters to life on Virgin Trains’ flagship Pendolino fleet, which this year will clock up 150 million miles (that’s a one way trip to Venus!), each carriage will host its own striking character wrap.

To celebrate this amazing partnership, Virgin Trains will be hosting an official unveiling of the wrapped train at London’s Euston Station on Monday 31st March with special guest Hugh Jackman and James McAvoy in attendance to officially name the train ‘X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST’.

Following the official unveil, the train will then go into service taking competition winners, staff and guests on its inaugural journey from London Euston to Birmingham.

Chris Green, Theatrical Marketing Director at Twentieth Century Fox, said:“This is a really exciting partnership for Twentieth Century Fox and Virgin Trains.

By commissioning the first ever X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST train we have been able to bring the film to Virgin Train customers and fans across the country in a unique and original way ahead of its release on May 22nd.”
