Visit-Seattle-300x162Visit Seattle courts out-of-state LGBTQ couples by continuing its all-inclusive, all-expenses paid Marry Me in Seattle wedding sweepstakes. LGBTQ couples age 21 and over, residing outside of Washington state, are eligible to enter and win a hosted trip to the Emerald City for wedding ceremonies on the first Wednesday of every month through December, 2014.

Marry Me in Seattle, a national sweepstakes created by Visit Seattle to celebrate equality and promote Seattle as a destination for LGBTQ marriage, launched on July 1, with hundreds of couples entering to win one of four wedding package giveaways. The first winning couple, Zachary Baker and Samuel Busch of Minnesota, was married Sept. 3 in Seattle by the city’s first openly gay mayor, Ed Murray.

“We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to win,” said Baker. “I entered us into the sweepstakes on a whim, but Sam or I could not have asked for a better day.”

The next winning couple, Blake Easter and Patrick Atkinson of South Carolina, will be married Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, but couples can still enter for a chance to win one of the two remaining wedding giveaways at www.2DaysInSeattle.com/MarryMe; the deadlines to enter for November and December’s weddings are Sept. 30 and Oct. 31, respectively.

Wedding packages include goods and services donated by more than 20 local partners, including air transportation by Alaska Airlines, ground transportation by Uber, accommodations, ceremonies and receptions provided by iconic Seattle hotels and event venues, catering, photography and more. Information about wedding partners and services can be found at www.2DaysInSeattle.com/ MarryMe.

The campaign website also features an essential Seattle LGBTQ marriage checklist that includes a link to Washington state’s marriage equality law (Referendum 74, which was passed by Washington voters in November 2012), information and links for marriage applications and licenses and a list of officiants. It also features a wedding resource guide that includes more than 30 Seattle romance packages, transportation, wedding music and DJs, florists, photographers, venues and catering companies. The site and resource list are permanent and continuously-updated.

The Marry Me in Seattle campaign was developed in collaboration with Visit Seattle’s agency Copacino+Fujikado, in partnership with Here Media and funding by the Seattle Tourism Improvement Area.
