VisitScotland: Week to go before Stirling’s big weekend of great entertainment

VisitScotland-300x100With only one week to go, Stirling Council and VisitScotland are looking forward to one of the most spectacular weekends of entertainment that Stirling has ever hosted.

 
Stirling’s Big Weekend features the Armed Forces Day National Event on Saturday, Bannockburn Live (Saturday and Sunday), Pipefest (Friday) and Stirling’s Big Night Out (Saturday).

 

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the city during the weekend and organisers from each of the events have been working closely together to ensure it is a fantastic experience for all who attend.
 

Provost Mike Robbins said: “This is going to be a fantastic weekend of historic and cultural fun. It’s a chance to enjoy the best of Scotland, past and present, from Bannockburn Live, which marks the 700th anniversary of the historic battle, to the Armed Forces Day National Event, which celebrates our Armed Forces.

 

“We’re really looking forward to the events and to welcoming visitors from across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, to our fantastic city.”
 

Visitors will be able to enjoy both Armed Forces Day National Event and Bannockburn Live on Saturday 28th June. Tickets for Bannockburn Live (Sunday 29th June) will be on sale at Armed Forces Day National Event.
 

The free Armed Forces Day National Event includes:
Parade, Drumhead service and gun salute
Current and vintage aircraft displays, including the Red Arrows
Explosive entertainment with a Tri-Service simulated helicopter combat and rescue mission
Parachute display teams
Vintage and modern tanks and military vehicles
Live music and entertainment – including The Poppy Girls
Marquees and veterans’ village.
 

Armed Forces Day National Event will be attended by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal and a variety of other VIP guests.

 

Bannockburn Live, organised by VisitScotland and Unique Events, is expected to welcome up to 20,000 people with a feast of music, battle performances, food and drink and family entertainment planned from 10am to 7pm. Tickets are available at www.bannockburnlive.com (Adults (14yrs+) £20; Children (5-13yrs) £12.50; Family ticket £55.00; Children under 5 years go free).
