Published on : Saturday, March 1, 2014

Visit-Bristol-logoBristol’s Rob Dean of Where the Wall, a company running guided street art walking tours of the city, is among ten people from across the country shortlisted to win.  People can watch his short film at www.mirror online.co.uk from Saturday, along with the films of the other candidates, before casting their vote online.

Rob, himself an artist and musician, created Where the Wall in 2012 and was nominated as this year’s Tourism Superstar by Destination Bristol who cited his infectious enthusiasm for Bristol’s unique creative culture, his efforts to make art accessible and his work to support local businesses and up-and-coming talent in the city.

The Tourism Superstar accolade was launched two years ago as part of English Tourism Week (this year running from 29 March to 6 April).  The award recognises the dedication and passion of those working in the tourism industry, and is awarded to an individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure visitors to England have a priceless experience.

John Hirst, Destination Bristol’s Chief Executive, said; “Bristol is known around the World as the birthplace of renowned street artist Banksy, but what people may not know about our city is that we have a wealth of other emerging creative talent here too. Rob works tirelessly to champion that talent, as well as supporting local artists and businesses, and inspiring an interest in creative culture among visitors to Bristol.

“Rob’s knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment are why we nominated him as Visit England’s Tourism Superstar 2014, and why we’re urging people to back him in the public vote.”

Visit England has teamed up with national newspaper, The Daily Mirror to host the Tourism Superstar online public vote.  The winner will be announced on March 29, the first day of English Tourism Week and will be invited to attend Visit England’s Awards for Excellence held in May this year where their Award will be presented to them in person.
