Wild Bush Luxury has partnered with mindfulness expert, Jacqui Lewis of The Broad Place, to create a retreat that brings clarity to the mind through connectedness to nature at Wild Bush Luxury’s South Australian wildlife conservancy, Arkaba.

The ‘Mindfulness Retreat at Arkaba with Jacqui Lewis’, which will run from 4 to 7 September, 2016, will be set in the awe inspiring wilderness of Arkaba in the Flinders Rangers, a place where the first signs of life on earth were discovered, providing the perfect setting for guests to disconnect from the world and reconnect with themselves.

Guests can evoke the free spirit of wildlife such as Big Red Kangaroos and Wedge-tailed Eagles that roam unrestricted over the expansive 25,800 hectare (60,000-acre) property, so the hustle and bustle of life seems worlds away. With a guest to land ratio of 1:3,035 hectares, stripping away the distractions of modern life and getting immersed in wild surrounds isn’t hard. Arkaba’s craggy sandstone bluffs and dry creek beds lined with River Red Gums are quintessential markers of the Australian outback.

Charles Carlow, owner and manager of Wild Bush Luxury, describes the vivid, earthy colours, native wildlife sounds and sheer size of this wondrous land, as a location where disconnecting from normal life is made easy.

“Spending time in nature is a holistic experience and we have seen previous guests benefit over the years, leaving Arkaba refreshed and recharged. Partnering with mindfulness and Vedic Meditation expert Jacqui Lewis of The Broad Place, we have crafted an itinerary for a retreat that creates a sense of place and space,” Charles said.

“The ‘Mindfulness Retreat at Arkaba with Jacqui Lewis’ is an opportunity to spend time away from the busyness of modern life, giving guests the opportunity to work on and develop their best self while surrounded by the striking and immersive Australian outback,” continued Charles.

These sentiments were echoed by Jacqui, “Arkaba is a truly remarkable landscape for people to explore and experience the gift of meditation and mindfulness. It is a magnificent backdrop to the beauty of studying our self and reconnecting to our purest essence,” said Jacqui Lewis.

Over the last seven years, Wild Bush Luxury has restored the former sheep station into a thriving wildlife conservancy. This rejuvenation of the land, returning it to its former, native state, will be the backdrop to the retreat’s guests as they rejuvenate their own minds and bodies.

The Retreat

Wild Bush Luxury’s retreat has been expertly curated by Jacqui to have a long lasting impact by teaching practical methods of mindfulness, meditation and creative channelling. Under Jacqui’s expert guidance guests will learn the ancient art of Vedic Meditation, a tool that brings greater clarity and connection to daily routines and unlocks creativity within.

Vedic Meditation is ideal for highly engaged, modern and time poor individuals as it is a simple but highly effective technique proven to benefit health and well-being by reducing the risk of heart disease, improving concentration and enhancing decision making abilities.

Guests will learn the art of Surya Namaskar, a series of gentle postures and movements designed to energise the body by acknowledging the sun as it rises and allowing guests to function at their greatest potential. Throughout the day, mindfulness sessions will take place in the form of Vedic Mediation and bushwalks led by Jacqui and Arkaba property manager, Brendon Bevan, allowing guests to experience the land and to educate them about the important conservation efforts championed by the team at Arkaba.

Jacqui will also lead a ‘Creating the Space to Create’ lecture, to teach guests everyday techniques to create space within their daily routines to start bringing real creativity back into their lives.

Guests will spend two nights in the comfort of Arkaba’s rustic 150 year old homestead, retaining its original layout and adding to this incredible outback experience. To deliver the ultimate reconnection to the earth, guests will also spend a night under the stars with an al fresco dinner of locally sourced produce delicately cooked on the campfire, before retiring in one of Arkaba’s luxury swags.

The all-inclusive retreat is AUD$3,475 per person twin share, and runs from 4 to 7 September, 2016. It includes a four-day mindfulness program led by Jacqui Lewis, guided wildlife and safari experiences, one night swag camping on one of Arkaba’s famous star beds, two nights’ accommodation in the restored 1850s Arkaba Homestead, all meals, beverages and transfers from Adelaide. One way private charter flight in a B200 twin engine aircraft returning by scenic road transfer through the Clare Valley wine country.

With a maximum of eight guests, the small, intimate group allows Jacqui to spend time with individuals but also creates a community feel and connects guest with like-minded people.
