Austria‘s national soccer team is not participating in the 2014 World Cup which begins today. However, the Austrian airline already won the bronze medal in April 2014 on behalf of Austria. According to the latest flight statistics, Austrian Airlines was the third most punctual airline in the world in April.
With an on-time arrival rate of 89.36%, the performance of Austrian Airlines was ranked third, surpassed only by SAS (91.30%) and Air Berlin (90.50%). The fourth most punctual airline was Iberia (88.71%) ahead of KLM (88.59%). Air Europa was rated sixth (88.43%), followed by Aeroflot (87.96%) in seventh place, ahead of eighth-ranked ANA (87.55%), Lufthansa which was ninth (87.09%) and Japan Airlines (86.37%) as the tenth best.
By the way, a particular highlight is the reliability rate of Austrian Airlines flights. More than 99.56% of all flights were actually carried out as planned.
The punctuality in the airline industry is measured with less than 15 minutes. This means that all flights which are more than 15 minutes late are considered to be unpunctual. By the way, no airline in the world has a reliability rate of 100%, The main reasons for flight cancellations are the weather and technical defects. In April 2014 Austrian Airlines operated a total of 10,503 flights, of which 5,882 were considered in the FlightStats statistics.
