takes pride in how it has integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into its culture and its business operations around the world. To showcase and educate its employees on local and global efforts, the company is holding its first-ever CSR week, with activities and events around the world focusing on educating and informing them about their role in CSR and why it’s important for people, planet and profits. CSR Week runs from May 19-23.
“As one of the largest hospitality companies with more than 100,000 locations in nearly 100 countries, we have an increasing opportunity and responsibility to enrich lives and give back through focused programs which help our associates, our business and our communities,” said Stephen P. Holmes, chairman and chief executive officer, Wyndham Worldwide. “Our CSR program is a reflection of our core values and how we do business. It’s what sets us apart and drives our growth.”
Since the Company launched in 2006, it has focused on supporting its communities while driving its business forward through focused CSR areas which include Community Support and Responsiveness, Diversity and Inclusion, Environment and Sustainability, and Human Rights and Ethics. Today, the Company is consistently named among the industry’s best places to work, earning continued recognition as a global leader in such areas as sustainability, diversity, workplace experience and human rights.
CSR Week activities designed to provide information and create engaging dialogues include a panel discussion with Holmes and other Wyndham Worldwide senior leaders, compliance information sessions, health fairs and biometric screenings, culture tours and more.
Wyndham Worldwide demonstrates its CSR leadership not just through the awards it receives, but also through what it gives back to the community. As a global hospitality company, Wyndham Worldwide serves millions of guests every year, providing memorable vacation experiences in some of the world’s most beautiful destinations. Supporting those communities around the world is a core value, and is best reflected by the Company’s CSR program and its Wishes by Wyndham Foundation.
Wyndham Worldwide is committed to making a lasting contribution to the communities where its associates live and work, and supports its goals through in-kind donations, volunteer hours and by raising awareness and funds for organizations related to its mission.
In addition to providing support through in-kind donations and fundraising, employees give back through volunteer programs and initiatives. Eligible employees can take advantage of a Wish Day, one paid day off per year to volunteer at a charitable organization. In 2013, Wyndham Worldwide employees donated more than 17,500 hours of volunteer hours as part of its Wish Day program while the Wishes by Wyndham Foundation contributed more than $2 million to more than 250 organizations.
Wyndham Worldwide also offers Community Support & Responsiveness programs to allow employees to give back to communities in need after a natural disaster, and in 2013, the Company donated more than $50,000 to the American Red Cross through Wishes by Wyndham to assist in disaster relief.
