Alstom unveiled the new metro of Montreal

20131024-Montréal_Metro1The consortium composed of Alstom Transport, Bombardier Transport and STM presented on Monday November 25 the new metro of Montreal to the Government of Quebec and Montreal city.

The trainsets which are presently under static and dynamic tests, will be delivered to STM early 2014 to begin certification tests in the metro depot before entering into commercial service. 52 metros composed of 9 coaches each were ordered by STM in 2010 to replace the current MR63 metros.
Alstom is responsible for up to 40% of the trainsets manufacturing. Among the components supplied by Alstom are: bogies, traction, brakes and train control systems.
The company is also providing the communication and passenger information systems as well as CCTV. These components are manufactured at Alstom’s Sorel-Tracy and Montreal sites.
