In Australia’s North Queensland, a colony of 80,000 bats has been driven out of town with sounds of helicopter, horns and gun blasts.
The sounds of horns, helicopters, and gun blasts filled the air in Charters Towers to try and scare away a colony of bats that have infested a local park after conventional methods failed.
The smell of the animals drives away customers says shop manager Ayla Pott. She says that it stinks and the smell is so strong that it becomes hard to open doors on some days.
The council plan to use the noise method for the next 10 days to keep the mammals away. It was forced to take the drastic step and the local residents were overjoyed to see the animals go.
However, the conservationist feel that the removal of the bats were inhumane as the bats were too young to fly away. The council will use drastic measures every morning and night for the next 10 days to fully ensure that the bats do not return.
