He will be dealing with all tourism matters which were handled previously by the Tourism Ministry. With an experience in the industry for over 25 years in the senior management level He will be taking up his duties immediately.

He has always been attached with development strategies that improve the financial structure and rebuilt the organization’s marketing, communications and digital capabilities and internal operating structures. All these initiatives were taken by Mr Hanbury between 2009 to 2013 when he was the CEO of the United Way of the National Capital Area.

The Chairman of the BTA is hopeful that with the leadership of Mr Hanbury and his expertise, he will re-energize the island’s tourism economy and since he has always rebuilt the organization that he has been attached to, Bermuda Tourism Authority is confident that there will be great contributions from him towards BTA.

The Chairman specially emphasized that Hanbury is not a Bermudian. He was chosen for this position due to his capability and since they wanted the best Hanbury, though American was an obvious choice. He will lead a team that will be working to create new jobs by attracting new investments. The new jobs will be for Bermudans only. Also in the future the post of the CEO will be occupied by a Bermudan but at this point someone was needed to put things in track and Hanbury has the capacity to boost Tourism Bermuda.

Being a global destination Mr Hanbury felt excited to be a member of the new Board of Directors, private sector partners and government officials to build a world-class organisation representing Bermuda’s extraordinary tourism assets. He felt honored to work in this tourism destination and welcomes the professional challenge that he is about to face.
