Cheerleaders and Dancers in Palm Springs for Duel in the Desert Competition

download-216-150x150Over 6,500 cheerleaders and dancers will be competing at the Palm Springs Convention Center from February 1-2, 2014 as part of the Spirit Sports Duel in the Desert Cheer & Dance National Championships. This world championship event attracts cheerleaders and dancers from four different countries including Australia. This event is also open to the public with a spectator admission fee.

“Spirit Sports is estimating nearly 14,000 people to attend the Duel in the Desert competition, and will be dining and shopping in Palm Springs throughout the weekend,” said James Canfield, Executive Director of the Palm Springs Convention Center.

The Duel in the Desert competition has an estimated economic impact of over $7.3 million dollars. Palm Springs host hotels include Renaissance Palm Springs, Riviera Palm Springs, Hilton Palm Springs, Hyatt Palm Springs, Palm Mountain Resort, Comfort Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Ace Hotel and Swim Club, Saguaro and Spa Resort Casino.

Duel in the Desert is one the largest events on the West Coast and teams will be competing in a two- day format that combines their scores from the weekend’s performances to determine who will be named Spirit Sports National Champion. Spirit Sports will be awarding over $75,000 in World’s bids while at the same time naming over 70 divisional National Champions.
