Four Seasons Hotel Doha, The College of North Atlantic, The Qatar Cancer Society and the Canadian Embassy – Qatar are collaborating hand in hand to organize the Terry Fox Run 2014 on Tuesday, February 11 at College of North Atlantic- Qatar to spread cancer awareness.
Sheikh Dr. Khalid Bin Al Thani, His Excellency Andre Dubois, Terry’s sister Judith Fox-Alder and Shadi Suleman, Hotel Manager at Four Seasons Hotel Doha, will be joining the Marathon of Hope.
For the tenth year, Four Seasons Hotel Doha is supporting the Terry Fox Run with all the proceeds benefiting cancer research.
The Terry Fox Run is an annual marathon held to help raise funds and awareness for finding a cure for cancer. Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts Founder and Chairman Isadore Sharp made a commitment to support the annual fund raising event, since Terry Fox, a young Canadian man suffering from bone cancer, initiated the Marathon of Hope in 1980. Although he had his left leg amputated, Terry was determined to run across Canada to generate awareness and raise funds for cancer research. Sharp has made a personal pledge to support the Terry Fox Run for cancer research until the disease is beaten. Since its inauguration, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has followed through on its pledge to organize an annual run in Terry’s name and works closely with the Canadian Cancer Society to plan the Marathon of Hope.
The Terry Fox Run is a volunteer-led event, non-competitive, with no fundraising minimums with all fundraising going to the Terry Fox Foundation benefiting local cancer research. Funds raised will remain in Qatar as there are now several research projects that are looking for the cure for cancer in Doha. The event is catered by Four Seasons Hotel Doha volunteers. Families can bring their kids as there will be other fun activities.
Participants are also encouraged to make voluntary contributions during the day of the run towards the fight against cancer. Donations can also be made online to the Terry Fox Run.
