These fun evenings will begin with wine-tasting and canapés in the beautiful Vista Bar & Lounge before guests move through to Reuben’s restaurant and enjoy a superb 4-course menu prepared jointly by Reuben and his guest celebrity chef.

Listen to them explain their culinary roots and influences and enjoy the tales and anecdotes of these top chefs, including several Eat Out Top Twenty winners, whilst you feast on their themed menus including ‘Fruits from the Sea’, ‘East meets West’, ‘Seasonal & Organic’ and ‘Grass Fed and Free Range’.

The “Reuben Invites” series begins with French chef Gregory Czarnecki from The Restaurant at the spectacular Waterkloof Wine Estate in Somerset West on 11th June. Inventive, inquisitive and innovative, Gregory specialises in home-grown or reared produce utilising eggs, vegetables and free-range meat from the bio-dynamically-run estate to create playful dishes which are a joy to behold and a delight to eat. The three different ranges of Waterkloof wines offer a myriad of choices, so you are sure to find your perfect pairing here.

One of South Africa’s most thoughtful, imaginative and creative chefs will be joining Reuben on 9th July. Richard Carstens has cooked in restaurants in Asia and Australia and now serves up his outstanding fusion food at the dramatic and beautiful Tokara restaurant in Stellenbosch. Expect appetising combinations of food and texture to delight and excite all your senses, matched with Tokara’s award-winning wines.

It’s Women’s Month in August and the 13th sees South Africa’s top female chef, Margot Janse from The Tasting Room, reunited with Reuben, her former colleague, for a nostalgic evening of the very finest food and wine. A Top Ten chef for many years, Margot specialises in unusual South African flavours and ingredients, and her dishes are sure to be an appetising surprise for all. Partnering Margot on the wine-side will be one of SA’s leading female winemakers, Corlea Fourie from Bosman Family Vineyards who will be bringing her handcrafted, food-friendly and Fairtrade wines to the table.

Top Ten chef Bertus Basson, chef patron of Overture restaurant on Hidden Valley Wine Farm will be joining Reuben on the 10th September. Bertus and Reuben will be combining to create an unforgettable meal showcasing Bertus’s passion for unusual cuts of meat and his beloved smoking machine! Expect plenty of interesting, unusual and always delicious food served with lots of chat and amusing stories on the side!

Rounding up the dinner series will be one of South Africa’s fastest-rising stars. Ryan Shell from one of Franschhoek’s most popular dining destinations, Haute Cabrière Cellar Restaurant, will be joining Reuben in the kitchen. After spending time working overseas at a Michelin-starred restaurant, Ryan’s food shows imagination and flair, as well as the use of many unusual ingredients, which complement his seasonal flavours. This is the perfect opportunity for curious diners to try some of Haute Cabrierè’s fine pinot noirs with cuisine – a much-underrated pleasure!

Each event is priced at INR 2,000 approx. per person for the 4-course dinner, pre-dinner wine-tasting and canapés, excluding any drinks with the meal. Most of the visiting chefs are from restaurants on wine estates and suggested wines will be paired to each dish, although this is not included in the price, allowing you the freedom to select your favourite wines to accompany each gastronomic feast.
