About 200 shops dedicated to tourism in Argentine were closed all over the country due to tax evasion, as part of the so-called Summer Operation by the Federal Administration of Public revenues (AFIP).
The information service Minuto Uno, echoed a report of the Supervision body who emphasized that the business were closed because they did not make the income tax , evading to pay the value added tax consumers paid.
Among those sanctioned all over the country in tourist centers are hotels, night clubs, resorts, and electronic games room, reported AFIP.
Although it is nationwide, the Summer Operation was addressed to the main tourist cities like Iguazu, La Angostura Village, Bariloche, Calafate, Cordoba, Mendoza, Gualeguaychu, Las Grutas, Puerto Madryn and the Atlantic Cost localities.
AFIP clarified that the closures were not by surprise since the businessmen were alerted through the media campaign early on the season, to accomplish the requirements.
