Yunnan receives mild jolt in tourism due to terror attacks

Kunming-300x207Terrorism in the much visited destination of southwest China, Yunnan has hampered tourism to a great deal. But this hasn’t discouraged the local tourism agencies who have taken firm steps to rebuild tourism prospects in the state.

With support from the state, security is being tightened with armed police patrolling the tourist areas. However, this might give a bit of consolation to the tour operators but the real picture is that tourism is being affected in Kunming since March 1, since the terrorist attack.

Kunming is called a “city of eternal spring” owing to its mild climate and green environment, but with the terror strikes the tourism industry which is the most vulnerable in such situations is suffering the most. 100 tourists have cancelled their trip to Kunming which is two percent of the total number. Even though the number is small but the loss is obvious.

The authorities will need to act fast and get their tourism back on track or else they will lose out on potential tourists.
